Joel “Positive” Murray from Trinidad & Tobago emerged the top winner at this year’s Caribbean Gospel Music Marlin Awards held on recently at the Myles E. Munroe Diplomat Centre in Nassau, Bahamas. Positive became the first ever artist in Marlin Awards history to win eight (8) individual awards in one night. The prestigious Caribbean Gospel Music Marlin Awards, considered one of the longest running Caribbean Gospel events in the region celebrated its 20th Anniversary during Marlin Awards Weekend in February 2017. The awards were launched on March 16th 1996 by media executive and radio personality Kevin “Minister K” Harris and now distributes awards in over forty (40) categories. Congratulations also to aStepFWD.com’s brand/web designer Christophe Pierre (designbySPIRIT.com) on his 4th Marlin appearance and for winning Packaging of the Year for the art direction of the Stand & Be Counted album. Renowned Caribbean gospel recording artist Sherwin Gardner, who will be in the UK this July 28th as part of his Greater Tour, also walked away with two (2) Marlin Awards this year including Soca Recording of the Year for this massive hit ‘On the Road’ and International Caribbean Recording of the Year for the track ‘On the Way’, a song recorded and released by American urban gospel recording artist Deitrick Haddon but featured Jamaican gospel dancehall artist DJ Nicholas & Gardner.
