Founder and Leader Kay Morris started the group in 2003 with a group of young singers and musicians, they released their first album in 1995 "Live Again" and in the same year won best New Comer at the Canadian Reggae Music Awards. The group toured extensively overseas breaking religious, racial and cultural barriers around the world. They released their second album "Armageddon" in 1998. In the year 2000 the EP "Pray A Prayer" was released in Canada and in South India. Kay Morris & The Jewels were instrumental in introducing reggae gospel music to the church communities in Canada, the group's success allowed them to become a house-hold name in Canada. Kay Morris is known for her electrifying performances, she is also known as Canada's Queen of Reggae Gospel!
In 2001 - Through Pastor Audley James at Revival Time Tabernacle, Dr. Bobby Jones of BET visited Toronto and invited Kay Morris & The Jewels to Las Vegas to perform at his Recording Gospel Artist and Industry Retreat held at the MGM Grand Hotel, the group shared the stage with Gospel Legends such as Kirk Franklin, Byron Cage, Deitric Haddon, Dotty Peoples, Kim Burrell, Shirley Ceasar and others.
In 2004 the group released their last album "Unite", with the hit song "Sweet Salvation"which won them several awards. After parting with the group, Kay continued a very successful solo music career touring in such places as Japan, Europe, Africa, The Caribbean, South America, and The USA. In 2006, her humanitarian work impacted Africa after she brokered 1.5 Million Dollars in anti-retro viral meds for people living with HIV/AIDS. Kay is presently the International Liaison for the Atlanta based Prayze Factor Awards. To-date she has won approximately 40 music and humanitarian awards.
Per Kay "We are all very excited to be coming together again and performing as a group after 12 long years, it brings back such great memories, God is good! The group grew and as we grew some members moved on and new members joined. So we will be having the first set of Jewels and musicians open the first part of the concert and the last set of Jewels and musicians will close. For me, the reunion concert will be a time of celebration and thanksgiving to God, it will also be a time of showing appreciation to the singers and musicians who have supported and helped me on this very successful musical journey, I did not arrive here by myself. Over the years I would meet people who told me that they grew up on my music and how it had impacted their lives; they wanted to know when the group would be performing together again, that to me was very humbling and touching. It's also great to have Alexis Spight come to Toronto and participate in this event, she is an awesome worshipper and Toronto is in for a real treat."
